Tony’s Place provides a diverse set of services to meet the needs of LGBTQ+ youth age 14 to 25. Core Services for Tony’s Place include:

  • Basic Needs Services – These are services that address needs that are immediate and essential to survive. These include meals, clothing, showers, hygiene supplies, laundry, and housing program referrals.

  • Case Management Program – This program is a collaborative and planned approach to ensuring that a person gets all the services and support they need to move forward with their lives. Case management at Tony’s Place is provided on a 1-on-1 basis to our members, through an LGBTQ+ lens. It includes the assessment of needs, the creation of individual goal plans and an active engagement between the client and case manager. Case management appointments are scheduled at times that are mutually agreed upon   by the client and case manager.

  • Support Services – We provide safe spaces, acceptance and resources through peer support groups, process groups, education, and partnership and collaboration with other service providers and community organizations.

  • Community Engagement - We provide training and presentations about and for LGBTQ+ youth through strategic interactions with the community and public.

  • Advocacy – We offer public support or recommendations for legislation at state and federal levels. This includes educating legislators about LGBTQ+ issues/disparities and informing the public about the legislative process, the status of specific legislation and about LGBTQ+ issues.

Tony’s Place opened in 2016 in loving memory of Robert Anthony “Tony” Carroll. Tony Carroll was a pillar of the Houston community and a tireless advocate for numerous LGBTQ+ causes. Tony and his husband Bruce were strong advocates for a drop-in center for young LGBTQ+ people. Tony and Bruce were board members of the non-profit, Homeless Gay Kids – Houston. Tony passed suddenly in December of 2015 at the age of 75, but his legacy lives on. Under the umbrella of Homeless Gay Kids - Houston, Tony’s Place was opened to homeless and unstably housed LGBTQ+ youth and allies.

Tony’s Place now has a physical location in the Montrose area, were LGBTQ+ youth can access services and support.

Transparency is very important to Tony’s Place, so we make sure you can download our 990 Form here at any time.
