We would love to have you join in volunteering with Tony’s Place! Our volunteers serve in a variety of ways to keep Tony’s Place active in our mission to empower the homeless LGBT+ youth of Houston.
We are in urgent need of Direct Youth Workers and/or Member Activity Workers who can work on Fridays during center hours, as there are very few people to cover Fridays currently. If you can perform one of these duties, please fill out the form at the end of this page and indicate the days you can work.
Direct Youth Worker
Works directly with members in drop-in center on rotating shift. Monitor and Inventory services provided (food, shower, laundry, clothing closet), assist with cleaning, establish rapport, provide feedback and advice as needed.
Member Activity Worker
Conduct, coordinate and/or assist with group activities during scheduled programming time **typically between 1pm-2pm** (art, music, psycho-education, process group, movies, ted talks, game day, etc…). Professionals open to donating services (counseling, legal assistance, medical care, mentorship, haircuts etc..) are welcomed and appreciated.
Also, if you have additional days during the week when you can be available, please let us know as we would like to open other days eventually. Knowing there is interest to work other days will help us when the opportunity arises!
Supporting Our Impact
These positions will help us to achieve our mission and better serve youth. They do not involve working directly with youth, and are not required to happen at specific times, but are every bit as important in supporting the work we are doing and in ensuring we can continue to do so. If you are interested in one of these, please fill out the form at the end of this page.
Development Volunteer / Lead
Tony’s Place is actively seeking a development volunteer to assist in all aspects of the process, including donor management. The ideal person will have the ability to identify and assist in courting potential corporate and individual donors, and create and implement a long-term development plan for the organization. If there is mutual interest, this could develop into a position as a Board Member.
Organize activities to raise funds or otherwise solicit and gather monetary donations or other gifts. May design and produce promotional materials. May also raise awareness of the organization’s work, goals, and financial needs.
Social Media Support
Create and Post media that promotes:
- Community engagement and education
- Brand building and reputation management
- Program recruitment
Social media provides opportunities for connection that other channels may not.
If you are interested in filling one of these positions or have any questions please fill out the form below.
If you are unable to give your time right now, consider donating to help with our daily operations here.
