TONY’S PLACE RECEIVES $50,000 GRANT FROM LESLIE L. ALEXANDER FOUNDATION

Tony’s Place has received a $50,000 grant from the Leslie L. Alexander Foundation.

Leslie Alexander is the former owner of the Houston Rockets. Alexander has said the foundation is committed to helping people of all ages achieve better health and wellbeing and improve their quality of life.

“We are extremely grateful to Mr. Alexander and his foundation,” said Al Amado, chair of the board of Tony’s Place. “This is our largest single gift to date. This very generous grant will allow us to continue providing services to help our members survive in the short term and thrive in the long term.”

Amado added that this gift is especially welcome right now, when donations are down due to the pandemic. In fact, in awarding the grant, the foundation noted one reason that Tony’s Place was chosen is that the homeless are at a particular disadvantage in avoiding the COVID-19 virus.
