Tony’s Place Reopening After Hurricane Harvey

We were closed for Harvey, but now we are recovering. Harvey is one of the worst natural disasters to hit the United States, but MaDonna Land, our Program Director, will be re-opening Tony’s Place on Friday, September 1st, to help the youth we serve as quickly as possible.

It is unknown at this time exactly what the kids‘s immediate needs will be, but we intend to meet them. We expect that our supply of food (perishable and non), clothing, blankets, small tents, sleeping bags, water, etc. will be quickly depleted and we will have to reprovision to meet additional demand over the next few weeks.

Many of you have been asking how you can help.

  • If you are able to, please make a donation of any amount online at http://www.tonysplace.org/donate/. Believe us when we say no donation is too small. Any amount you can donate is helpful.
  • Start a personal fundraiser for Tony’s Place on Facebook. Point your friends to our donate button http://www.tonysplace.org/donate/ and encourage them to help financially.
  • Consider volunteering. You will need to pass a background check first, but we anticipate needing additional volunteers while some of our regulars attend to personal matters as they recover from Harvey. Follow this link for details on volunteering: http://www.tonysplace.org/volunteer/

Thanks very much to all of you who have offered to help us as you yourselves are recoving from this tragedy. Our heart and prayers go out to everyone who has been touched by Hurricane Harvey. It will be a long road to full recovery, but we know Houston is up to the challenge and we will do it.
